It was 6 AM; I was sleeping soundly when I heard the first rooster crow. Number one rooster was quickly imitated by number two–a chorus, hooray. Just as well get up and start the day with the chickens.

There is roadwork on Old Petty Creek Road. It took 45 minutes to get to the highway. All the roadwork is good for the economy, but makes vacation travel slow.

This restaurant was across from the gas station in Lakeside. Good food, clam chowder and Philly cheese steak.

The Kandahar Lodge is the overnight stop. The front door is just feet from the ski lift. Of course there is no snow this time of year.
