Dawn. The sky was slightly hazy and a light fog covered the mown hayfield, overhead was the moon and two planets– all signs point to a beautiful fall day.
Looking towards Mt. Washington, the sky is clearing; the is only the ground fog and the early sun’s reflection in the clouds. Great, days like this don’t come often.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be up so early, but today we are going on a nature walk to the former Maine and New Hampshire Granite Co. quarry site on Rattlesnake Mountain.
The quarry is now part of the Rockwell Sanctuary in Conway and is being preserved as open space. The woodland walk is sponsored by Tin Mountain Conservation Center.
