Hoover Institute shows through Mozart I by Kenneth Snelson, Stanford

Mozart I is a rigid steel, wire, and tubing construction installed near Stanford Bookstore. Mozart’s steel tubes are connected and held under tension by taut steel wires that sometimes whistle in a strong wind.

The tall tower pictured above behind Mozart I is the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace, a public policy think tank. The work of the Hoover Institute is done by its fellows, who include former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice and other prominent Republicans that are connected by their conservative beliefs.

Like Mozart I, the Hoover fellows whistle, but they whistle a different tune.

There are three Mozart installations; Mozart II is at Pepsico, and Mozart III is at Wellesley College. I don’t know if they whistle or not.
