Optimism abounds, the sun was shining after the previous day’s rain, and this group of children was having lunch on the steps of the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. I was visiting the glass house because of a special exhibit of items from the 1915 Pan Pacific Exhibition — there would be a model train– maybe that was why the children were here?
But, there was a new sculpture in the garden:
This interpretation of a Weather Vane is on temporary display in the garden until a permanent home is found. It is a gift of France — a show of appreciation and cooperation between two friendly nations in a time of uncertainty.
Seeing children on excursion, puppies and new art on a sunny day, I remain optimistic.
