Off Season— The empty Yosemite bus pulled away leaving us with a clear view of Yosemite Falls. This photo was taken on a mid-week day in January, 2010; a few inches of early snow had been cleared and the park was practically deserted.
Wonderful place to visit off season. Imagine looking at Half Dome with a dusting of snow, Yosemite in the winter when the crowds vanish and the quiet returns.

My first winter visit was for a conference. I recall that the skating rink was open, and (I may mis-remember) the Camp Curry swimming pool also. I tried to hike up the trail to the top of Yosemite Falls, but was defeated by deep snow above lower falls– what a view from there!

It has it’s own beauty at this time of year, doesn’t it? I’d love to visit Yellowstone in winter.
