Evita The Musical: the story of Eva Peron, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Evita The Musical the story of Eva Peron, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice take us to WW II Buenos Aires in Evita The Musical at Stanford Memorial Auditorium. Eva Duarte rises from the barrio to the Rose Palace and dies tragically leaving a brutal dictatorship to run Argentina.

The Pillars of Hercules III by Dimitri Hadzi, Standford University

On the way to the Friday evening performance, I stopped for a moment to look at the Pillars of Hercules, a tall bronze sculpture that guards the entrance to Lathrop, the newly opened undergraduate library.

I hope the sculpture by American born Dimitri Hadzi will inspire undergraduates to greatness.

The Stanford production of Evita was a success and the audience left in good spirits. It was a well done ensemble performance by cast, dancers, chorus, orchestra, the crew, everyone. The director, Sammi Cannold and all those associated with the production should be pleased.

Did you know that Evita The Musical has never been staged in Buenos Aires. Oh well, it’s their loss.
